Her Story
A restful mind, settled heart, and healthy movement was not always a natural part of my story. It may never be a natural way of being, but it has now become a consistent pursuit and focus.
Like many, I got caught up in the cultural whirlwind of busyness, the perceived expectation of perfection, and the turmoil of anxiety. In 2022, I hit a wall and knew I needed renewal. I was drained at the core. Worry and seeking others approval was all that consumed me. A shift was desperately needed.
The Lord nudged me into a new space and season in my life that not only allowed, but required me to pause. I can vividly remember when the Lord whispered to me ‘Be still’. I didn’t know how to do this, but knew Christ longed for me to be at rest with Him. He slowly taught me the transformational value of living slowly and at ease with Christ.
Jump forward a bit, I had a longing to create a fulller life that strengthened my well-being. Without ever exercising before, I found a local women’s fitness studio and began to take a variety of classes. I was most drawn to the yoga sessions. I noticed my self-confidence, self-worth and physical abilities increased. As well, my anxiety & physical tension decreased.
As I found myself on the mat, I felt at ease and at rest. I recall feeling the Lord’s presence while laying on my yoga mat. I was unsure if that was the case, but quickly knew that I was ‘being still’ just as the Lord called me to do. I continued engaging in this restful movement activity of yoga where I could experience a pause amidst the normal routine of to-do’s and expectations.
Then, came along a yoga teacher who believed in me and encouraged me to enroll in a yoga teacher training. I didn’t think I was qualified or ready to pursue training. Yet when someone believes in me like she did, it was all I needed. Shortly after starting my training, I knew that I wanted to share the yoga experience with others that I found on my mat with Jesus.
I had the privledge to participate in two schools that led me to become trained in Christian faith-based yoga. I was given the opportunity to learn how to teach exactly what I experienced on the mat — stillness with Christ through movement.
Be Still Movement is the continuation of the story. It allows us as a community to come together and find spiritual renewal with Christ while deepening our holistic wellness.
With God all things are possible,
